OL200 Wont start

Once every couple months, my OL200 will partially start,
and then freeze as soon as the initial splash log is
displayed. I then use Norton AntiFreeze, and it opens a
little more - displays my folders in the frame on the
left, but no menu or toolbars, and no message list.
Usually I let it sit and after about 20-30 minutes, it
opens.

But now it sits all night and wont open fully. NAF tells
me that outlook is trying to write to various ecf files
unsuccessfully. The weird thing is that Outlook still
functions! Using a "mail to" hyperlink, I was able to
generate a new message and send it. When my dial-up
connection is connected, I get my ISP logon window, and it
DL's messages from the account, displaing the "new mail"
envelope icon on the taskbar. But I cant access anything!

I uninstalled and reinstalled.
I restored a registry from a couple months back that had
no errors in it.
Still no success.
FWIW, I did do a registry clean-up lately, but I believe
OL worked afterwards.

Any ideas?

First thing first - Close Outlook. Now search for a file named outcmd.dat.
It should be in
c:\documents and settings\<<youruserid>\application data\microsoft\outlook.
Rename or delete it and start Outlook. Any better?

location wont apply - I hope the fix does. Will try it
later - Thanks

Yep - that did it! A million thanks! Wish I had read this
before the umpteen hours I spent trying all sorts of
other ways to fix this!
