Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Power PC
Email Client: pop

couldn't find an answer to this one although the topic is extensively discussed.

my Database is 2.1G.
After receiving the famous message : "database corrupted, to fix the problem rebuilt database" have rebuild my database.

the new database lunches just fine however, a lot of the information disappeared (foders exsit but no emails in them ) . the new database size is only 466m.

the only question i have is :

is it possible to restore the Old Database and save the data on it even if its corrupted? is there anyway to retried these last emails ? will it be saved on the computer in other forms?

obviously didnt back up the database before this dissaster happened... was not aware of this possibility or need.

please help

thank you
Anat

I _believe_ Entourage automatically creates a backup in the Identity folder
before it rebuilds the database. But I _know_ that Diane and the other MVPs
here always recommend that you also (as added "insurance") back up the
database yourself before doing a rebuild.

As far as restoring is concerned, I haven't a clue...I don't think it's
possible, but I'm still a "newbie," not knowledgeable enough to offer a
useful opinion.

the backup exists. thats the Old Database file thats being created by Entourage.

however, when trying to open this file, it is corrupted...

however, when trying to open this file, it is corrupted...

It possible it would rebuild if you had a huge drive with lots of empty
space. See this article. The concept applies to any rebuild.

I do recovery of databases for users (mostly Entourage X). If you can't do
this yourself, contact me off list.
