old email addresses keep popping up

After I update a contact in my address book with a new email address, it is
not unusual for the old email address to show up when I type the contact's
name into the To (or CC or BCC) line of an email. How do I make this stop
happening? Where is this old address hiding? I've done searches in the
address book for the old addresses to make sure they are deleted but they old
address cannot be found.

I'm on Windows XP and using Outlook 2002.

The addresses are in your autocompletion cache, which has nothing to do with
your Contacts data. Remove individual addresses from the autocompletion
cache by highlighting the entry when presented in the suggested names list
(use your arrow key to migrate to the entry) and then hitting your Delete
key before you tab out of the field. To clear the entire cache, follow the
instructions here:

I tried this but it didn't work. I found a "default profile.nk2 as discribed
in the link, but this did not clear the caches. I'm using outlook 2002.

Thanks!

Describe what you did and what happened. So far, you would be the first for
whom these instructions do not work. There are no other solutions.
