Old emails are duplicated with today's date and receiving to my inbox

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

I am on version 12.1.5 (081119) with OS
10.5.5. Today, all of a sudden, all of my old emails are coming in again, with today's date, as a duplicate. I did not change any settings. What should I do? Why is this happening? I am also getting my email via POP on gmail, and I am not having the same problem with that inbox.

Usually it's a server problem. This is a pretty common occurrence. To get
rid of duplicates use one of the scripts to remove duplicates.
