At teh suggestion of Microsoft I downloaded some security
patches in August.
I also downloaded IE 6.0 but didn't know it. When I
rebooted all of my desktop items disappeared. The computer
would start up but was having trouble doing anything. Mu
internet connection was gone. Doing a little research I
found that the ISP SW has IE 5.0 so I deleted the IE 6.0
and reloaded the Comcast IE 5.0 and things went back to
normal.
Later I had occasion to use Outlook to update an address.
Since I normally use Outlook express for all of my e-mail
traffic I hadn't been in Outlook for a while. Outlook
loads but an error message "An OLE registratiom error
occurred. The program is not correctly installed. Run
setup again for program." The only changes I made were the
removal of IE 6.0 and the reload of hte ISP provided IE
5.0.
I reloaded the complete Office 2000 Professional suite
twice, but I get the same error message. Can anyone help!
Thanks in advance.
