OnClick event does not appear in behaviors task pane

FP2003. When adding behavior to img object (using Insert -> Change Property
on Behavior Task Pane) only OnLoad and OnMouseOut are added to the Behavior
Task pane event list. No OnClick or OnMousOver. Tried reinstall of FP. No
success. How to get OnMouseOver event?

J

John Malone

Have you put your mouse over the event Area?

This is not what you want but the picture at the bottom shows the drop-down
list... (part of it)
http://www.xmas-i-am.com/clear_text_form_field.htm

Do you have that? The Drop-down is not visible until you mouse over the
events area..

Until you select an element in your page (text or image) those are the only behaviors available

Well...... On your page two (2) Demo.pdf did you click OK in the "Change
Properties" Window? (After that point)
Only then will the "Events" drop-down show.

Yes I did click OK. What you see (on page 2 of
www.erols.com/ventures/demo.pdf ) are the only two On"Events" that got added
to the Behavior Pane AFTER I click OK on the "Change Property" dialogue
(which I overlaid on the pdf to show what I filled out on that pane). Yes
guys, this IS VERY STRANGE and I am becoming to believe it is not user error.
Note in on page 1 of the pdf I show that a layer does exist and the img
object I want to attach it to. On page 2 I show the img tag selected and the
dialogue of the "Insert--> Change Property" dialogue and how I filled that
out properly selecting the layer. Then on the Behavior task pane is the
result of OK on that Change Property dialogue showing ONLY OnLoad and
OnMousout being added. Yes, the OnLoad and OnMouseout function do in fact
work on the page, I just CAN NOT add any other OnFunctions like all
documentation says I should.

So after you have got the "Change Properties" done (working) you can not go
back and change the "events"to something else.

Make sure in Tools | Page Options | Authoring that CSS 1 & 2 are turned on
and you have selected your layer before trying the behaviors

If that don't do it you can try this....

Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download FP
Cleaner.
Download links are at the bottom of the page.
Run the functions that clear:
The FrontPage Temporary files.
The Cache (*.web) files.

See if it helps.

Seems to me that it is a setting that is not right.

So... If the above don't do it....

With FrontPage closed, find and delete the "cmdui.prf" file for FrontPage -
this is the file that stores your customizations and preferences for the
FrontPage Menu and it will get rebuilt, using the defaults, the next time
you start FrontPage.

Hmm... Still no dice. Your first sentence is yes. Also CSS 1 & 2 are checked.

I ran FPClean and deleted Temp and Cache files. 3 or 4 of each. I also used
it to reset the toolbars and menus. I then searched for and deleted the
cmdui.prf file (which is what FPCleaner does in restoring menus/toolbars).

I created an entirely new page, added an img and added a layer and attached
it to the img (per my pdf page 1 and 2 examples again). In applying behaviors
it still only adds the OnLoad and OnMouseout events - that is all. Both of
events have dropdown menu options (in the behavior panel) to change the event
to ONLY OnAbort, OnError, OnLoad.

I appreciate your tenacity on this one. I'll take any thoughts.

This is a large PDF file (about 1 meg) I just made.. (I know the behaviors
are inconsistent)
Just a series of screen shots as I went along. (what you should be seeing!)
Why you aren't I duno

http://www.xmas-i-am.com/test/images/behaviors.pdf

1. Started with a image and a layer.

2. Put the image into the layer

3. Went to "Change Property"

4. Selected Element "div" then ID = "Layer1" Then Visibility Hidden. OK
Checked

box at bottom to restore "onmouseout"

5. Now on the right you see "onclick and the "onmouseout"

6. Putting my mouse over the onclick brings up the Drop-Down box so I can
change

the onclick to "onmouseover"

7. Done.

Exactly what I am doing. I did it again following your pages and watching
your item highlights/selections. Everything tracks spot on until page 6. On
page 6 I get onmouseout and onload as the ONLY events populated into the
event behavior list! NO OnClick is populated. How can that be? I always get
an onload never an onclick - hence the problem I am having. Of course,
checking the box for "restore on mouseout event" adds the onmouseout event on
the list.

BTW Nice photo - I am an RVer working on going it full-time.

Here's the actions verbatim. Drag img onto new page. Open layer pane. Insert
layer. Drag img into layer. Activate behavior panel. Click Insert Change
Property drop down. Select div and layer1. Set visibility. OK. NO check the
restore box. OK. What I get is only onload event.

I was working on a site and just put the tag line "Where the FUN Begins" on
the bottom of that photo.
Note: Mari-Osa Delta RV Park near Jefferson City, MO. No web site Yet!

I am sure you have tried the "Detect & Repair" too.

Running out of options 8(

Scan Disk? Maybe... Can't hurt.

Eager to see your results for that campground... Maybe I can solicit your web
talents as I develop my Grand Adventure www.rvdude.com as I would like to use
GoogleMaps to track my journey not as a boring what-i-did-today blog but as a
here-i-am-come-along geolog.

I'll keep fidgeting with my dilemma. Yup, scandisk and detect/repair all to
no avail. I'll do a full uninstall and reinstall next. Or, just learn to code
by hand!

Thanks John!

Right now kind of stretched thin. 8) (It's a good thing)

No RV Dude but I have a Kool-Dude Page... Ha hahaha

*Warning* Music on the page controls at bottom of the page out of site even
if you have a large monitor.
(scroll down no matter what your viewport size is...)

Hope things go better than today...
