One Account not receiving mail

Since I got on board office 2004,I have a new bizarre error message, #
16999,
Says, Can't open the message file -- it's gone!

Could not retrieve mail.
Account namexxxxx

I've deleted and re-added this account to no avail. Any ideas apprecited.
