Onformat group control dynamic query

When a control "break" occurs, ie a field I am Grouping
on changes value, I want to pass the new field value on
to a query...so I have two questions, how do I refer to
the field (simply me.[field_name] ?) - can I assume that
the value in the field/row being grouped is the new value
causing my groupheader_format routing to be executed?

and how do I pass this value on to a query - My
fundamental need is to print different charts/graphs
depending on the values of the field controlling the
grouping...a header/section page of graphs before the
detail lines print for each grouping.
