Set it to Calendar just before quitting.

Uh? I may be dense today, but sent what to Calendar?
Entourage opens but not with Calendar showing, that is my goal.

Entourage will launch with the "module" you used before you last Quit.
So if you last viewed the Calendar, Entourage will show you the
Calender on startup.

That is what one would think, but such is not the case.

V. 10.1.4
Yes, have rebuilt database.

This shouldn't have anything to do with the database integrity actually.
Does Entourage crash on quitting, by any chance? If not, try fresh
Preferences. Quit Entourage. Go to
/Users/[you]/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/ and remove Entourage Settings
(10) and Entourage Preferences. Also /Users/[you]/Library/Preferences/
com.microsoft.Entourage.plist . Open Entourage, go to Calendar. Quit. Open
Entourage again. Any better? If not quit again, remove the entire Microsoft
folder from Preferences, plus the .plist file again. Try again. Better?

If not, you'll have to use Remove Office utility from the Value Pack to
remove Microsoft Office X. (It won't touch your data, which is elsewhere.)
Then reinstall Office v. X and the 10.1.2 and 10.1.4 updaters (and 10.1.5 if
you wish). Now it should be fixed for sure.
