open exclusive property

I have my database on a network drive. Therefore, other
users can see it and open it as well. I want to make
sure that whenever it gets opened by someone - it is
opened 'exclusive'. (So that only 1 person has it opened
at a time.)

I have tried:
Tools --> Other --> Advanced --> Selecting Exclusive

However, when I have it opened - someone else can still
open it?

What is the problem? Thank you!

Why would you want to do this? Access is designed for multi-user use.

You could accomplish this by denying users create permission on the folder
where the mdb is. Without that, they can't create a ldb file, and the mdb
will open exclusively.
