Open *.wps File

Is there anyway to open a wps file in Word or any other
application (other than works obviously)...

Word opens Works files. If not, then re-rerun Word's setup program to
install the appropriate filter.

There are lots of 'flavours' of Works. Which you can open will depend on
which version of Word you have, the security updates you have applied to
Windows and which filters are installed. Word 2003 will open Works 7 files,
for earlier versions you'll need the old filters which you will find linked
from my web site.
