opening a file with a hyperlink

please help.
i have a template that i use for quoting to customers. this template is
automatically numbered consecutively each time it is saved. this document
number is then used in the filename for easy later reference.

what i want to do is 1: when the customer accepts the quote, a job card
needs to be opened by clicking a link on the quote that opens a new jod card,
also a template and giving it the same number as the quote. qutes are
numbered q1234, i want the job cards to be numbered j1234. is it possible,
if so could you please help with vb code. thanks.
