Opening attached files in Entourage 2004

I can't open files attached to an incoming email. I double-click on
the attachment and nothing happens. I press the "Open" button to the
right of the attachment and get an error message that the file is
corrupted and cannot be opened. Same thing happens if I save the file
and then try and open it. This has occurred for .jpg, .pdf and .doc
files.

I can open the files using Entourage X (which I still have installed on
the same Mac as Entourage 2004).


Any ideas on how to fix this?

Sorry, no. I haven't come across this problem before.

What happens if you drag one of these files to the desktop? Can you then
open the file from there?
