opening email

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel

I just recently switched from Office X to Office 2008. In the previous version I just clicked on an email message to open it but in the new version I need to double click to get a message to open. Does anyone know if I can set a preference somewhere to allow just the one click?

Are you really sure? I've also used Office v.X, and I've always had to
double-click a message to open it. If you are referring to the preview pane,
though, it could be that it got switched off. See if selecting the option
View>Preview Pane>On Right/Below List restores the expected behaviour.
