Opening extremely large Publisher file

B

Brandon

Hello all,

I have a client who's got a Pub 2000 file that is 650 megs. He wants it
opened in Publisher XP (2002) and saved as that.

He can open it in Pub 2000 on a Windows XP Home machine with 512 megs RAM. I
have tried several Windows XP Pro machines with 768 megs RAM using Publisher
2003 to open (intending to save as 2002/XP) and the file bombs out 1/2 way
through loading.

Any ideas on how to make it open? I was thinking of shutting off the
graphics preview to start with. What else? I have killed everything in the
system tray including Symante Antivirus and others, but it still won't go.

Thanks.

Hi Mary,

Thanks for that. But unfortunately, none of this worked.

If the file does not contain personal / private
info...perhaps you could upload it to the following
site and one of the regulars in this group could
attempt to convert it for you. Maybe someone
will volunteer and provide you with an e-mail
address...

"YouSendIt"
Transfer files up tp 1 GB:

Hi Mary,

Thank you for the generous offer. I am trying now to send the file to you
via yousendit.com but it has failed a few times. I think this particular
Publisher problem is singularly responsible for increasing my hair loss by
25%... :)

Might think about using WinZip. It may make the file a bit smaller. I have broadband,
you can try sending it directly.
GMail is generous with their web space
