Opening powerpoint 97 file in 2003

Hi all,

I need to open a powerpoint 97 file in 2003 but everytime i try it tells me
that powerpoint can not read my file. However when I downloaded a poointpoint
97 viewer and open the files it works. How do I get 97 files to open in 2003.

Update your PowerPoint and see if it works. Go to Help > Check for Updates.

Have you applied the latest Service Pack for Microsoft Office 2003 Editions (applies to Microsoft PowerPoint
2003)?


At the time of this post, the current Service Pack for Microsoft Office 2003 Editions and Microsoft PowerPoint
2003 is Service Pack 2 (SP2).

To find out if Service Pack 2 has been applied to Microsoft PowerPoint 2003, follow these steps:

Start Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003
Click Help -> About Microsoft Office PowerPoint

It should say something like:
Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 (11.6564.6568) SP2
Part of Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003

If it says "SP2", then Service Pack 2 has been applied.



To check for updates, use any one of the methods which I have noted below:

A) Start Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003, then click Help -> Check for Updates

B) Go to
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdate/default.aspx
and click the "Check for Updates" link.

C) Go to
http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/
Note: You should be at the "Microsoft Update" site, NOT the "Windows Update" site. Only the Microsoft Update
site provides updates for other Microsoft software, including Microsoft Office and Microsoft PowerPoint.
When you get to the Microsoft Update site, click the "Express" button.
