I have Microsoft Office on my Mac using OSX, and also Classic, but I
can not open pps attachments that are sent to me via Entourage email.
Can anyone tell me how to open them?

Do you have a copy of PowerPoint? You need it to view these files.

I have found that I must first save the file to my hard drive, and the open
it from within PowerPoint. Double clicking the file in Entourage will not
work for some reason.

You need to associate the .pps file type with Powerpoint:

In Entourage X:

Save the attachment to the desktop. Control-Click on it and select ³Show
Info² from the contextual menu. In the window that appears, click on
"General Information" and choose "Open with application" from the pop-up
list. Click on the down arrow in the icon box and select the application you
want from the list that appears or select the "Other..." command. Click the
³Change All² button which is now active.

In Entourage 2001:

Apple Menu Control Panels Internet / Advanced tab File Mapping. Scroll
down the list of file extensions to find the one you¹re looking for. Select
it and click Change. When the Change Mapping window appears, scroll to the
application you want, select it and click Change. Close out of the Internet
Control Panel and click Save if prompted.

After doing this once, the files will open from the entourage attachments
pane.

I assume by Entourage 2001 you mean Outlook 2001. We are having difficulty
getting the file Mapping to work for .jpg and .pdf files to work. With the
..jpg files they were sent by another Mac client using Outlook 2001 who used
a software we don't have to create the jpegs. It seems the creator code is
still in there and the .jpg extension is not taken into account. Is there
any explanation or solution to this? (besides copying attachment to the HD).
With the .pdf, some pdfs from windows users also must be copied to the HD.
We have pdf mapped to Acrobat reader.
This is with OSX 10.3.4.
Any one have any suggestions?
