Everytime I hold down the Option-Key and try to launch EntourageX (to
cause it to rebuild the database) it crashes just as the Rebuild
Database dialog box starts to appear. Therefore I cannot rebuild the
Entourage database on my G5 running OS 10.3.8. I have tried
reinstalling all the Microsoft Office apps and trashing all the
Microsoft Prefs, etc. - no change. Entourage finally got to the point
that I could not delete messages - so I had to rebuild the database.
What I finally did was copy the Microsoft User Data folder to a DVD and
then inserted it in my G4 Powerbook (also running 10.3.8) and I was
able to repair the database in EntourageX there by holding down the
option key and launching the app. After the database was repaired, I
transferred the Microsoft User Data folder back to the G5 - trashed all
the Entourage related prefs and tried Option-launching Entourage again
from the G5 referencing the new database - crashed again on G5 although
now the program works fine again for now - just cannot make it rebuild
the database on the G5. I also earlier tried launching into other
Identities as well as rebooting the G5 in Safe Boot mode. Nothing
allows me to fix an Entourage X database on my G5. I do get a crash log
however that I do not know how to read.
