Original email deleted when replied to

Outlook 2000, when ever an email is replied to or forwarded the original
email is deleted. Nothing has changed on this system prior to this
happening.

There are many emails both read and un opened in the
inbox and nothing has been archived for several months.

Are you sure your View is set to "Messages" and not "Unread Messages"?
