Original of forwarded mail is removed from Inbox

Using Outlook 2000, set up is the same as other set ups
within department but when I forward a mail that has come
in to me the original is removed from the Inbox. All that
is left is the forwarded copy in the SENT items folder.

I cannot see an option which allows this to happen let
alone stop it. Ideas please?

Check to see whether you're using the Unread Messages view or another view
that's filtered to not to show messages marked as read.
