Crash... and for anyone lurking.....
I finally found the file in: c:\winnt\wdskctl.exe after looking in Computer
manager and looking in the running modules and startup folders.....
It's name is: IE Plugin or IE Plugin Desktop Toolbar
AND......
When I left it open (running) Hijack this was able to find it and remove it.
Problem solved!!!!

Also...it never hoits to actually look through Program files, as Adaware,
Spybot S&D sometimes will miss things. If I don't recognize something I do a
google search + spyware and see what it might be. You'd be surprised what
you may find.
| Hi Crash.....
|
| That sounds like WORK! (for those of us in the group that are old
enough
| to remember Maynard G Greebs on the old Doobie Gillis Show!)

|
| Thanks for the direction, I will give it a whirl.

message
| | tell me about it...I just spent a couple of hours getting rid of
mysearchbar
| crap. what really ticks me off is these scumware programs seem to target
| sites my kids enjoy so my wife's machine ends up with a zillion goofy
things
| running.
|
| best thing to do is a Google search for the name of the offending program
+
| spyware - then read up on it and how to get rid of them.
|
| one thing about Ad-aware...if you are using Custom config and a new
program
| (like a BHO or anything else for that matter) gets added Adaware doesn't
| automatically add it to your scan list.
|
| check msconfig for anything that is running that looks weird...verify it
by
| doing a Google on the name of file if you don't think it's legit. Uncheck
| what you suspect.. also end running task on it. Then run Adaware.

| | | Hi all......
| |
| | I've got a web search bar that my teens allowed to be added to my
| computer.
| | It shows up on startup and you can exit out of it but I want it gone.
| |
| | It does not show up in change or remove programs and hijack and adware
| have
| | not been able to get rid of it. Any suggestions on how it can get it
gone.
| | It is on a Win 2000 pro machine.
| |
| | Thanks....
