Out Of Office Assistant no longer working

I have a Exchange 2000 server and everyone else's works.

It has stopped working altogether. The scenario is this:-
If I simply choose the 'I am currently out of the office' and type in
an auto-reply, this does not fire when I receive and email. Instead,
I have to set an Rule for all incoming messages, wher I reply with a
template containing the same text as the auto-reply. Only then does
my OoOA work.
