Hello,

i would greatly appreciate someone's help here. In the last week two
separate mac's thati have running entourage suddenly stopped
automatically sending messages once they were in the outbox. I started
clicking on send and receive and still not sending, then after S&R'ing
an error message would come up staying that network etc was busy.

I have checked with my ips and their systems are fine, therefore i
have some issue with entourage.

Do i have to re-install etc or recreate my account's?

Many thanks,
james

What version of entourage, and what type of mail accounts? If these are
hotmail accounts in Entourage vX, this is due to a change at hotmail that is
not likely to be corrected in Entourage because entourage vX is now
unsupported.

Please help. This is a different person with the same (or similar)
problem. As of several days ago, I can receive but not send.

My entourage is version 10.1.0. I called Microsoft and they refuse to
support this version as it is apparently 5 years old.

My isp is Time Warner Road Runner and they have checked everything on
their side. I have tried opening a new account but the same problem
happens.

Your assistance is most appreciated.

Entourage

I am also having trouble sending mail through Entourage. I am using
my gmail account and I receive 3 different messages:

1) An unknown error (-17199) occurred.
2) Entourage cannot find the server. Verify the server information is
entered correctly in the Account Settings, and that your DNS settings
in the Network pan of System Preferences are correct.
3) [SYS/PERM] Your account is not enabled for POP access. Please visit
your Gmail settings page and enable your account for POP access.

I receive emails but I am unable to send.

Thanks,

Victoria

Not only are you using End of Life software, you haven't updated it to it's
last version update. 10.1.9

Mactopia Downloads

Entourage X was not updated for the Daylight Saving Time change in April.
You can apply a workaround.

My isp is Time Warner Road Runner and they have checked everything on
their side. I have tried opening a new account but the same problem
happens.

We've had reports where Entourage X is failing to send but can receive.
Hotmail accounts no longer work with Entourage X. Some security updates by
ISP have also broken under Entourage X.

You can test by downloading the demo for Entourage 2004 and see if you can
send and receive in 2004.

Basics:

1. If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration
2. If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration

You can try re-entering info.
You can delete account and create a new one.
Using copy/paste can result in an extra space being added. Type carefully.
Check your Keychain for corruption.

I started

Open your Outbox and try manually sending each message. Sometimes a corrupt
message will stop all other mail from going out. You can copy the contents
into a new message and delete the offending message.

When there is a corrupt message (usually the oldest) it can cause these
problems. You can delete the message using your web mail access. Sometimes
using Online access (look under Options in the Account window) you can find
and delete the message(s). Sometimes just firing up tcpflow it will cause
the stuck mail to download. In addition tcpflow can identity the message
and/or cause of your problem.

Test your network with tcpflow. See directions here:

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/troubleshoot/tcpflow.html>

Another application I ran into recently that does the same thing but has a
different interface.

EavesDrop....Let it capture some stuff then double-click any of the lines of
text in the main window to see more detail.

Have you checked for #2 & 3?

Your problem involves send & receive but with different symptoms. It's
always best to start your own thread.

I'm running 11.3.6 and not running hotmail accounts.

No. You might need to check your keychain though.

Does it always not send or is this a hit and miss problem? As I mentioned
before, it's probably a corrupt message. Deleting the message will solve the
problem.

Entourage seems especially prone to stalling out on certain messages. You'll
be able to download in Mail with no problems. It's one area that really
needs improvement. Please send feedback so MS will know this function needs
work.

Under Help in the Entourage menu bar select "Send Feedback on Entourage" to
request this feature, or click on this direct link to enter Mac Product

Thanks,

Little dumb here but whats a keychain?

Also, the problem is persistent with 95% of emails being sent. I have
checked to make sure any dodgy emails have been deleted. I have also
just deleted all my email accounts and then re-set up the main one but
the problem still exists. Do you think i should re-install the
software?

Have sent MS f/back.

Many thanks here.

Keychain Access is one of the default Apple Utilities.

/Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access.app

It stores all of your passwords. Under Keychain Access in the menu bar, you
can select to run Keychain First Aid. Verify and Repair your keychain using
First Aid.

Since the keychain in integral to your Mac, this article gives a good
overview of Keychain Access.

No. Re-installing is not going to solve this problem.

You've verified that you some email goes through. The next step is in
determining if it's just one account or all that is the problem.

Did you use your web access to your email to delete old messages that could
be the cause?
