Outbox on Outlook Shorcut Bar

Outlook 2000, IMO, after upgrading to Windows XP....

The outbox on the outlook shortcut bar does not display
any number of messages in outbox when in fact there could
be one or several. FYI, the messages are sent properly.

Any ideas on how I can fix this?
