Outgoing Email Hangs

Why does outgoing email sometimes hang for unusually longer periods (perhaps
a minute) with the last kbs.
Is there anything to be done to expedite this?

It seems currently, my shift to Adelphia cable has resulted in an increase
in this hang time. I do not recall the former Verizon DSl hanging this
long.

I have similar issues with my outgoing messages; the "progress bar" reflects
the same behavior. I cannot explain it, either. I even upgraded my Cox
cable service to "premier" for a faster upside pipe and it still seems to go
rather slowly. Not unacceptably slow, mind you, but slow enough to notice
that it "should" be going faster. :)
