Outline level vs Predecessor

Hi,
I had asked about a workaround in an earlier post about predecessors. It
seems that no one has aswers. So, I was wondering if it is possible to omit
the Predecessors in lieu of usign outline levels for the given subtasks..

I realize that there are advantages to havin gpredecessors, but I was
wondering how much I wouold be giving up by not using predecessors..

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanky You,
Gus

Gus,
Without predecessors a Project plan is nothing more than a list of
tasks. Something that could just as easily be done in Excel. You might
want to read the thread of discussion on a recent post in this newsgroup
(titled "Dependencies", started yesterday by Karen).

It is possible with some VBA code to convert outline levels to
predecessors given some method of identifying how the outline levels
play into task linkages.

Hope this helps.

John,

Thanks for the feedback..

I have been playing with the code and with some help from the VB forum it
appears that the data is actually in the array cells. So, the predecessors
are now in place from the calculations I am performing.

I will, however, read the thread, as you mentioned..

Thanks again for the support and your valuable time.

Gus,
Ok, good. I'm glad we could be of assistance.

I missed your earlier post - is the problem that you don't want to see
subtasks indented? Or what?
