Outline stopped working

I'm using Word 2002. Format|Bullets and Numbering doesn't work the way
it has up 'til now. When I press the tab, the indent level doesn't
increase, I just get a tab. This is new behavior since the last time I
created an outline. How can I restore the previous behavior?

In Word, click on Tools | Autocorrect Options | Autoformat As You Type |
check the "Set left- and first-indent with tabs and backspaces" box | OK.
