Outlook 2000 does not start

I have problems with starting Outlook 2000 due to a received mail. There is
something wrong with this mail (no virus, I have checked the .dbx-file with
McAfee) that makes Outlook close down immediately.

Since the bad mail message is the first in the Inbox I can not get past it,
it is the first message Outlook finds and I can not interven to make Outlook
go down the list to other messages.

I have tried sending new messages to the account, but Outlook does not even
start downloading messages before it closes down.

I have located the dbx-file, in order to delete the bad message from outside
Outlook, but I do not know whicj program to open the dbx-file from to do
this.

I would appreciate any help with getting around the bad mail when starting
Outlook, alternativley a pointer on how to delete a specific mailmessage in
the "Inbox dbx-file".

Thanks for any advice!

Outlook doesn't use DBX files, Outlook Express does, so doing something with
a DBX isn't going to help Outlook. Can you log on to a web mail interface to
delete the troublesome message?

Thanks for your speedy answer!

Silly me about the dbx-files...

It will not help if I log in via a webmail interface. That will only get me
to the server where the messages reside before I download them. This message
has already been downloaded to my PC. (At least this is how I understand the
setup I have.)

So I have to do something with the message on my harddrive.

I think if you start Outlook with the /nopreview command line switch it'll
open without the preview pane. That may allow you to get past the error
you're experiencing long enough to delete the troublesome message.

OK, sounds like a good idea, but how do I do that? Normally I just
doubleclick the icon, so I don't understand how to use the /nopreview.
Thanks again.
