Outlook 2000 using XP - not shutting down

I am using Outlook 2000 with Windows XP on two different machines and
Outlook is not shutting down when closed.

This happened occasionally, but now it's every time I close Outlook. One has
fax set up, the other doesn't so that's not an issue.

My feeling is that a current update has done this since it's all the time
now.

I'd appreciate any help you can provide.

Most likely it is the Fax software that keeps Outlook open. When you close
this Outlook will close as well. For more info see;

I too am having the problem on one of our new XP
computers. It originally had Office 2003 installed, but
I "backed" it off to Office 2000 after the learning curve
proved a bit too much for both the Op.Sys. and the App.
software. She isn't running any fax software, so that
can't be our problem.
Help!

Also check out MS article 834005. I am currently looking
into how to get this fix and try it. The article states to
wait for the next SP release but I don't think that is
going to happen any time soon
