Outlook 2002 Appointment default behavior

Does anyone know how to turn off Outlooks idiotic behavoir of making every
appointment and all day event by default. Is there a registry setting
somewhere where we can keep that box unchaecked and we can make the default
appointment a 1 hour event instead of an all day. Every user I deal with
complains about this.

In Lotus Notes you could set what you wanted your default appointment to be.
We can find no such setting in Outlook and unchecking the all day event does
not stick. When you uncheck and create another appointment later it's right
back to being checked.

This depends on how you create the appointment. When you
choose File-> New-> Appointment the default starting time
is "now" rounded to the first half hour (create an
appointment at 7:34 and the starting time would be 8:00).

When you create a new appointment in Calendar and
doubleclcik at the top of the day it will be an all day
event. Doubleclick at a specific time and it will be
created there with a duration of 30 minutes. Make a
selection and the duration will be the lenght of the
selection.

Thank you and yes that did the trick. Problem was everyone likes the 7 day
view in calendar and when they double click into a specific day it auto sets
it to and all day event. However, with your hint I know see if they
rightmouse click into the day and pick new appointment then it defaults to a
30 minute appointment. Alternatively they can change their calendar to the 2
day view and double click on anytime and that will also default to 30 minute
appointment.

You have to excuse use, we were all Lotus Notes users as of a few weeks ago
and we are still trying to get use to the little oddities of Outlook. In
many ways everyone is very happy but there were some thing in Notes that
were just so much easier to understand or obvious then it is in Outlook.

You're welcome! Yes, live is a lot eassier in Outlook when the calendar
is set to workweek view.
