Outlook 2002 corrupt backup archive.pst file

According to the Outlook back up utility the file cannot be opened because
this version of Outlook is not compatiable (not true as this version of
Outlook created the file albeit under a different SP) or the file is corrupt.
Therefore I'm assuming a corruption. I've tried "Recovery for Outlook"
without success.
Assistance from anybody would be gratefully appreciated. I have some
important stuff I really need to get back.

When you say recovery do you mean that you ran "scanpst" on it, long shot
but make a copy of the file elsewhere on your hard drive and then use File
|| Open || Personal Folder File (Outlook Date file) to access it.
