Outlook 2002 not conecting on startup

Outlook 2002 on Windows XP SP2, dial-up ISDN.
I've set all the settings (AFAIK!) for polling for new mail every 15 mins.
On Start-up, Outlook does not dial up but just gives me an error message
"Outlook could not find server". On clicking "Send and Receive", Outlook
dials up!
Is there something I've missed?
