Outlook 2002 not placing deleted e-mail in the Deleted Items box

I

Ian

I think I fiddled (how unusual!) and whereas I could
delete e-mails and they would remain until I emptied them
from the Delete Items box, they now don't go there ...
there is no second chance. I have scoured the options and
settings; I have looked through everything I can dream
of; and I can't see what I have done or what I can change
to fix it. I have done what 'help' says and get nowhere.
Any ideas please?

Ian

Did you create a rule to permanently delete or not to prompt when closing
Outlook?

No; no rules and

I have no tick in the 'empty the Delete Items upon
exiting' in Other

and in again in Other I have ticked the 'warn before
permanently deleting'

it is strange and I sense a reinstallation ... any other
ideas please?

Most grateful!

solved

your reply to someone else (6/16/2004 at 10.28.13) was
the answer: in View the Unread box had been ticked and I
have no idea how because I had never been there.
