Outlook 2002 view only changes when window focus is changed

This is a little wierd, I have a user that can send and
receive e-mail no problem, but what's strange is his inbox
and outbox will not show a change in status (such as
outbox still shows a message waiting to go(even though
it's been sent) or inbox shows X number or new e-mail
arrivals) until he changes the focus of his window.

As soon as he goes say from the preview pane to anything
else (click a menu, or folder) all of sudden the inbox
will show like 6 new e-mails and the outbox shows 0 where
it may have had 1 before.

It's like the screen isn't updating what it is actually
happening in the background.

Any ideas TIA

Charles

Anything such as a router or switch with VLANs or NAT device between this
computer & the server? This problem is generally caused by UDP packets being
blocked....

Nothing between the computer and the server, there is a
firewall on the network and we do use NAT (which is
handled by the server running Server 2003)

Maybe he has some firewall software running or some old
VPN software running. I'l check on that.
