Outlook 2003 can't retrieve but a few emails - NEED HELP FAST!!!

Terri

Upon checking my mail this morning, Outlook 2003 could only retrieve
11 of 153 messages and then it hangs up. I ran Norton WinDoctor and
fixed a few errors and am now scanning for virus (am certain it will
be clean)...

I have tried shutting down and that did not help either...

This has never happened before and am rather desperate to receive my
mail (as all of us are)....

Any suggestions as to a "fix" ? Thank you...

My theory is some spammer figured out a way to gum up the new Outlook. Check
the account a different way and delete the emails from the server. I'm not
even going to bother wasting my time trying to figure out which email is
doing it, because I get 1000 spams a day. Maybe I'll see it on the news
tonight, because it's happening to a lot of people.

Does it hang or is it downloading and it just looks like its hanging? If
there is a big e-mail file that is in your inbox it might take a little
while for it to download depending on your speed.

If you have a large email, sometime Outlook can't cope with it (in my
experience).

I have resolved it by going to my account via the web
(www.emailanywhere.com) and retrieving/deleting the file there. Then
Outlook will download the rest.

Just a thought...

Actually I just re-read your email and you say it 'hangs up'. If it is
hanging up, rather than 'hanging' then I would guess it's more likely to be
your dialup provider having problems or a noisy line??? Have you tried
using another dialup as a test?
