I have a W2K Pro SP4 desktop w/Office 2k3 Pro. No domain connection.
There IS an Exchange Server on the network but haven't migrated to it
as yet.
I have a WXP Pro SP1 Laptop w/Office 2k3 Pro that is connected to the
domain -- it's the ONLY domain client at present.
The environment is that of migration from peer-to-peer to domain but
the laptop has special needs and I expect to remove it from the domain
in the near future.
I have a very complete set of contacts on the desktop. I wanted to
export these to the laptop. I exported the .PST file to a share and
then imported it to the laptop.
Lo and behold, among the contact folders was one that I had long ago
deleted from the desktop. (Yes, that's an overly complicated process
but I followed it and it apparently worked.)
Apparently though, the deleted contact folder wasn't truly deleted --
just hidden. Upon export, there it was again. It even had a
subfolder.
I've since worked around the problem and have my laptop contacts
organized as they are on the desktop but I think this is just too
strange.
