Outlook 2003 crashes daily

Yep, I get the "Operation Failed" every morning when I start up. I have to
run mailbox cleanup, let it fail, send error report, it restarts, then works
fine all day.

Trying to reinstall it or fix it gets me nowhere. It closes down and does
the error report thing. It even gave me a blue screen of death. ?????

I am on an exchange server.
I have a Dell 640M core2duo laptop running XP pro.

Is Outlook 2003 a sick joke from MSFT or what? Can I downgrade to office
2000 for free?

I'd be nice if MSFT would take that daily error report and send me a message
telling me how to fix it.

MSFT, are you listening? Some answers please?

How should they do that? The error reporting tool is anonymous.

"MSFT, are you listening? Some answers please?"
No, they are not. This is a peer-to-peer newsgroup. If you want to contact
Microsoft directly contact Product Support.

Anyway, you're not providing enough info here.
Outlook build number?
What mail account type are you using?
What add-ins do you run?
What is the exact error logged to the Event Viewer?

To troubleshoot startup issues see;

Note that BSODs are usually related to hardware and driver issues and not
applications. The actual issue you have might just be surfacing through
Outlook were Outlook is just the victim.

Hi Roady,

We're also having similar "OPERATION FAILED" problems with Outlook 2003. My
question has gone unanswered so I'll post it again so maybe you or someone
else can answer it:

Outlook closes at random for one of my coworkers. When she tries to open it
again, the error message is Operation Failed. I tried clearing corrupt
objects, help > detect and repair, and even uninstalling and reinstalling
Office 2003..but none of this helps. The only way to bring
Outlook back is to totally reboot the computer. Once rebooted, Outlook will
open, but it will eventually shut down again at random, which is an
irritating cycle.
We even had her computer taken away and re-imaged, which should have wiped
out all the errors, but this didn't fix the
problem!!!

Any ideas?

Thanks

Roady, I understand that it is anonymous, so they say. I also understand that
this is a peer to peer group. Sometimes manufacturers/publishers monitor
these forums to help gather data to fix bugs, etc. I'm just hoping this is
one of those situations. Are you a MSFT employee?

Build # 11.8118.8122 SP2
Microsoft exchange server using RCP over HTTP
No add-ins, this is a new laptop with preinstalled Office 2003
I Do run pctools spyware and antivirus though.
I cannot reinstall office, it crashes. I have successfuly deletet outlook
and reinstalled it but the problem still occurs. It only occurs on startup
after logging off the computer. I will send you the exact errror message
later.
