Outlook 2003 Crashes XP on first send/receive after startup

I have a new Fujitsu Laptop with XP Professional. Consistantly after a cold
startup, and upon opening Outlook 2003, midway through send/receive, the
system freezes up, and I must perform a hard reboot. I have removed NAV2004
(now using NOD32), PST file is about 1gig in size. No viruses, or trojans,
etc on system. I have reinstalled Outlook 2003 several times. I have also
removed all plugins.

Any help, or, just verifying this is a known issue would be greatly
appreciated.

FYI, system operates just fine, and never crashes, except in this specific
instance.
