Outlook 2003 desktop alerts

Hey folks,

I like the desktop alerts feature for incoming mail in Outlook 2003, but
is there any way to configure a rule such that desktop alerts are not
triggered when spam arrives?

Thanks,

Dave

Well, thanks for the concise reply. This would be an invaluable add-in or
option.

Just made my own solution in case someone might be interested.

1) Uncheck "Display new mail desktop alert in advanced email options
2) Make rule to display desktop alerts only when mail arrives from someone
in your address book.

You'd think something as simple as this (or a variant) could have been
natively implemented. Who the heck wants a desktop alert for spam?

Better yet, I find that the POPFile spam program
(http://popfile.sourceforge.net/), which uses Bayesian probabilities, is a
far better implementation for filtering. It runs in the background and can
add tags to the email header (hidden in most views). Rules can be created
for dumping messages with specifics tags in specific folders. In addition, a
rule can be created to display a desktop alert for messages that are not
spam.
