I want my money back!!! Outlook 2003 anti-span is a bad
joke - it does not even block a single domain!

Would you like to block spam from Iraq? Sorry can't do
that - M$ did not think this was important!

THIS IS A LIE FROM M$
========================================================
Blocked Senders List You can easily block messages from
a certain e-mail address or domain name by adding the
sender to this list. Messages from people or domain names
on this list are always treated as junk e-mail messages,
regardless of the content of the message. When you add a
sender's name or e-mail address to the Blocked Sender's
List, Outlook moves the message to the Junk E-mail folder.

If Automatic Picture Download is turned off, messages from
or to e-mail addresses or domain names on the Safe Senders
and Safe Recipients Lists will be treated as exceptions
and the blocked content will be downloaded.

If you have existing lists of safe or blocked names and
addresses, you can import this information into Outlook
2003 by saving the list into text or Tab Separated Values
(.txt) file format, and then importing the list. If you
want to share your Junk E-mail Filter Lists, create a copy
for backup purposes, or print a list, you can export the e-
mail addresses on the list into a text or Tab Separated
Values (.txt) file.

E-mail addresses are matched exactly, and specific address
entries take precedence over domain name entries. To block
an entire domain but still see specific safe addresses,
add the specific entries to the Safe Senders List. For
example, add [email protected] to the Safe Senders List
and @example.com to your Blocked Senders List.

Outlook 2003 anti-spam is a joke. You will need to buy an
add-on. What the heck do I need 2003 for if it won't
event do a basic anti-span function????

The poster is trying to block a top-level domain (e.g. Iraq would be "iq").
Currently there is no option to do this in Outlook 2003, however MS is aware
of this deficiency. In the mean time, the user would have to write a macro
or go with some type of party addin (if one exists).

I block domains with it all the time.

I regularly block Sweden (.se), France, (.fr), Myanmar (.my), Mexico (.mx),
and several others. Why not peruse the Rules wizard a while before making
blatantly false statements.

Or simply use a rule that looks for ".iq" in the headers.

Brian,

You don't get it. You need to MANUALLY add an INFINIT
number of sub-domains to FULLY block a doamin if you can
not use wild cards like *@*.iq in Outlook. Got it?

Simply blocking @iq will not do when spammer.iq will get
through. M$ just does not understand security.

Brian,

What a M$ orifice kisser!

Brian said >"I regularly block Sweden (.se), France,

Unlike you I do not like to twiddle and fiddle with rules
all day when virtually ANY anti-spam other than M$'s
Outlook would block a single domain and all of its sub-
domains.

Your solution is crap! Whey you set up a rule for ".se"
you also now block mail from people with address like ==>
[email protected] or [email protected]

M$ is simply stealing your money!

FROM M$ MARKING:
"To coordinate our efforts against spam we created an
Anti-Spam Technology and Strategy Group at Microsoft. Our
new anti-spam technologies appear in Microsoft Office
Outlook... The problem's not licked, of course, but we're
making real progress."

What a frickin lie!!!

over.

You have two choices in life: bitch and moan (which you seem to prefer) or
find a way to use a tool to your best advantage. I prefer the latter.
