Outlook 2003 over Office 2000 : Outlook 2000 fight back !

R

Richard M.

I am upgrading Outlook to Outlook 2003 on a thousand of computers.

Perviously those computers were running Office 2000 installed from an
administrative installation point.
That installation was tailored using ORK.

I am deploying Outlook 2003 using ORK and using a administrative
installation point.
The MST is setup to uninstall previous Outlook version (as it should).

Now, I am running into these 2 issues :
- Sometime, Outlook 2000 will not be uninstalled. The log will show that it
has been detected and that setup will uninstall it. But at the end of O2K3's
installation Outlook 2000 is still there... Thus O2K3 behaves oddly.

- On some computer where O2K3 installation correctly uninstalled Outlook
2000, something triggers Outlook 2000 re-installation !
In fact I am able to see in the event log that something is looking for
....office\recall.dll, can't find it and triggers Office repairs.

What's going on ? How to fix it ?

Thanks

--Richard.
