Outlook 2003 sending blank e-mails.

I am using Outlook 2003 SP1. I have recently installed a free personal
digital certificate from Thawte to attach digital signatures and/or encrypt
my email. If I compose an email, attach a file and turn OFF the sending of
the digital signature, then the message body of my email is lost. This
happens to the emails sent and also to the copy kept in the Sent Items
folder. I have tried various combinations:

With attachment and digital signature - no problem
Without attachment but with digital signature - no problem
Without attachment and without digital signature - no problem
With attachment but without digital signature - NO MESSAGE BODY.

Any help greatly appreciated.
