outlook 2003 slow to load after NIS install

I've noticed since installing norton internet security 2004, that
outlook is slow to load, the main screen loads quickly but it then
takes 20 -30 seconds to display the inbox message. I have tried
removing NIS and everything returns to normal speed. Does anyone have
a workaround for this?
