Outlook 2003 turns on reminder by default even for events in the p

Outlook 2003 turns on reminders by default even when I'm entering events in
the past! Why? How do I stop this insidious behaviour? Outlook 2000 doesn't
do this! I realize that I can tell Outlook not to turn on reminders by
default in the options, but I want reminders on by default for future
appointments. I want it to work the way Outlook 2000 worked! How do I fix
this? Please, someone must know! Where is my buddy Bill Gates when I need him?
