I am operating from a home office PC, MS Windows 2000 Pro
OS. Just installed Outlook 2003 Trial vsn - was using
Outlook 2002. Trial s/w was passed out Tuesday at the
Office 2003 Product launch in Orlando.
I now receive the following warning message in an Outlook
pop-up dialog box everytime new mail is received:
"A program is trying to access e-mail addresses you have
stored in outlook. Do you want to allow this?
If this is unexpected, it may be a virus and you should
choose "No"."
The dialog box has 'Yes' and 'No' buttons, and a check box
to allow access, along with a drop-down for the number of
minutes allowed (up to 10).
After I allow access, the dialog box goes away. I
examined the processes running in Windows Task Manager,
and there is no 'strange' process running. Also, no
program is involuntarily sending emails out under my name
from my Outlook client (from monitoring the sent mail
box). Norton AV doesn't report any virus, and the only
thing I did to my system since this started occuring was
to load Office Pro 2003 Trial vsn.
Can't find anything in the Knowledge base, and MS
telephone support directed me to Community Newsgroups for
assistance since the TS rep said they didn't support trial
versions (MS Office 2003 Pro is on order). And you can't
report any issues unless you are a beta testor. CATCH 22!
Appreciate any help/suggestions anyone out there may
have. Thanks.
