Guys or Girls,
I have queries about whether or not the Outlook98 client
requires a licence or not.

A client at work has asked me this, and I don't want to
give them incorrect information. Cannot see alot on
Outlook98 now on the microsoft site.

I'll appreciate any assistance, Many Thanks Jim

Always double check this with your local Microsoft Office, but I believe it
goes something like...

1) Outlook 98 was a free upgrade to Outlook 97. Therefore if they have
purchased Office 97/Outlook 97, then they are entitled to use it since it
was a free upgrade to Outlook 97.

2) Exchange client access licenses also includes the use of Outlook. For
example, an Exchange 5.5 CAL entitles the site to install and use <= Outlook
2000. (If the site has purchased Exchange 2003 CALs, then they can use <=
Outlook 2003. Exchange 2000 CALs would be <= Outlook 2002.)

If they are connecting this Outlook to an Exchange server then a license is
required, your best bet is to Contact Microsoft Licensing for your country.
