Outlook and ~Entourage shared contacts

Can anyone recommend a Cheap, SIMPLE way of sharing contacts between 5 PCs
running outlook and a mac running entourage on a small office network. I
think MS Exchange Server is way too big and cumbersome for what I need.

Have you had a look at MobileMe? It works with Macs, PCs and mobile devices
such as the iPhone or the iPod touch and costs $99 a year. See for yourself:

exchange is neither simple nor cheap, but it is designed for this sort
of activity, as is Lotus Notes (which is also neither cheap nor simple).

You are looking for enterprise grade functionality at little or no cost.
Sorry to say that in this world you get what you pay for. Syncing
multiple items on different platforms is not easy top do, and it costs
money to write the apps - money you have to provide as a user.

You should look into a hosted exchange provider. You would be basically renting space on a shared exchange server. We have used Appriver with great success. Mail2web has a free (and low cost) hosted solution as well, but I have not tested it. Hosted exchange is a great way to provide a low cost exchange environment to a small user base.

Just a thought, but the recently launched MobileMe service, which replaces
Apple's .Mac service is said to also Sync PCs. I have not tried this, and
it's still very new but this may offer a relatively cheap ($99/- per year)
and simple solution.

I suspect you could also do it using a Windows Mobile PDA. Use ActiveSync
(or it's Vista replacement) to connect and sync with Outlook and use
something like Missing Sync for Windows Mobile to sync with Entourage and
Address Book.

Hope that helps.
