What version of Outlook? Outlok 2000 or 2002?

1) You need Outlook Express installed for Outlook to work properly.
2) What happens if you turn off your firewall?

Provided OE works OK now (maybe set up an account to test it), try running a
detect and repair by re-running your Office installation. Some file may have
to be re-registered.

Outlook 2002

On the same day I took out Express I installed a Firewall which I have since also taken out.

I reinstalled Express and then Outlook 2002 but still shows up same error.

Do I need to clear the machine out more effectively or reload in a certain order ?

Thanks for you answer so far

No, just re-run your Outlook install and choose the Repair option.
Conversely, you could just select Detect and Repair from Outlook's Help
menu.

Thanks for you advice.
I have Olk 2002 which came with a PDA the rest of my office is 97 - is that a problem do you know?

Are you suggesting I deinstall the whole office suite or just outlook ?
Apologies if that seems like a stupid question.
This set up did work initially before I installed a firewall and
deinstalled OE. Both reversed now.
OE can send a mail to O on my broadband modem so I guess it works and
crucially I have a way to send mail.
Regards and thanks

It's what I use at home (OL2002 with Office 97), synching my PDA with OL2003
at work (with Office XP supplying the remainder of the Office suite).
