Outlook causes Word Error

I run Office 2003 and Win XP.

When I close Outlook, [usually having
composed/sent/received], an error box opens telling me
that "Word has experienced a problem and needs to close"

The "Recovering Document" wizard appears -
successfully 'recovers' the document - and a blank word
document appears on screen.

Little puzzling to say the least.

Doesn't always happen - but it is frequent.

[I have 'check spelling before sending' as default]

Any help appreciated.
