Outlook closing without error

OutlookXP-SP2 all patched up
WindowsXP Pro SP1 all patched up
Outlook using Exchange server only

Outlook starts and after 10-15 seconds quits. Outlook.exe CPU utilization
goes up from 0-1% up to 50-60% just prior to quitting. Please note that this
is just a program close (no error, no log entry).

Have renamed OUTCMD.DAT, FRMCACHE.DAT and created a new profile from
scratch.

Now Outlook starts and will quit only once you start to 'do something', i.e.
I can create a new message but as soon as I begin to type an address the CPU
jumps up and Outlook quits. If I reply to an existing message Outlook will
quit upon pressing the Send button. Sounds like a network issue of some
description but normal network functions are normal and the initial
connection to the Exchange server works without trouble.

Any help greatly appreciated.

TIA

Open the Run command and type;
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Outlook.exe" /safe

If this works run Help-> Detect and Repair.

Hope this helps!
